Three individuals are facing criminal charges following the recovery of a stolen vehicle by law enforcement in Caledon during the weekend. The incident began on Saturday night, around 10:50 p.m., when officers received reports of suspicious activity at a residence located on Coleraine Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene, police observed a vehicle departing the area, prompting them to initiate a traffic stop. The driver, however, fled the scene but lost control of the vehicle shortly thereafter, leading to the driver’s arrest. Two additional occupants of the vehicle were apprehended by authorities in close proximity to where the vehicle had been abandoned.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle in question had been reported stolen from another jurisdiction, which led detectives to charge the individuals involved. Among those charged is 29-year-old Lovepreet Singh, who faces a total of four serious offences. These include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and operating a vehicle while prohibited.
In addition to Singh, two other individuals were charged in connection with the case. Dilraj Dhillon, 26 years old, and Harjet Dhillon, 29 years old, were both charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. All three suspects were subsequently held for a bail hearing on Sunday following their arrests.
This incident highlights the proactive measures taken by local law enforcement in addressing and mitigating suspicious activities in the community. The swift response by the police not only led to the apprehension of the suspects but also ensured the recovery of a stolen vehicle, underscoring the ongoing commitment of authorities to maintain safety and order within the jurisdiction.
As investigations continue, police are likely to seek additional information or witnesses relating to the incident. This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and the collaborative efforts between citizens and law enforcement to combat crime.
