The Michigan State Police responded just before noon to reports of a shooting at a home located in Missaukee County, approximately 170 miles (270 kilometers) northwest of Detroit. Upon their arrival, officers discovered three individuals deceased and one additional person in critical condition. The suspect in the case, identified as Chad Hickman, 39, had fled the scene prior to the police's arrival. In the wake of his escape, officers initiated a massive search operation for him, which led to the discovery of a fourth deceased individual at another nearby home. Police issued a warning on the social media platform X, alerting community members that Hickman was armed and considered dangerous, advising them against approaching him.
During the ongoing investigation, Hickman's vehicle was eventually located in a wooded region near Whitlock Lake. This discovery facilitated authorities' finding of Hickman's body, alongside another deceased individual.
