A man, identified as 22-year-old Qasim Sabi, has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged sexual assaults on two young boys in Windsor's west end. The charges against him include sexual assault, sexual interference, and failure to comply with a previous release order.
The incident occurred on a Thursday evening, shortly before 10 p.m., in the 3400 block of Bloomfield Road. Police were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance involving Sabi and two boys, ages 8 and 10, who were playing in the area. According to investigators, it is alleged that Sabi approached the children with inappropriate intentions.
During the encounter, it is reported that Sabi attempted to kiss the 10-year-old boy, who successfully evaded the advance. However, the situation escalated when Sabi allegedly kissed the 8-year-old boy on the cheek twice. Disturbed by the events, the children promptly returned home to inform their parents about the incident.
The boys' parents took immediate action and confronted Sabi as he was about to enter a residence within the same block. After this confrontation, Sabi fled the scene. Approximately 30 minutes later, police located him in an alley near Peter Street. Despite attempting to escape on foot, Sabi was apprehended by officers with the assistance of K-9 Officer Link following a brief struggle.
At the time of the incident, Sabi was reportedly bound by a release order stemming from a previous sexual assault case filed in May 2025. This earlier case involves multiple charges against him, including sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, assault, and failure to comply with a release order. The terms of his release order mandated that he remain at his residence from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily.
The authorities are taking this case seriously, highlighting the safety of children in the community and the importance of swift action in such troubling incidents. The allegations against Sabi have raised concerns among local residents, prompting increased vigilance in the area.
The Windsor Police Service continues to investigate the occurrences surrounding the case, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent such incidents in the future. The specific details regarding the upcoming court proceedings or potential penalties for Sabi remain to be determined as the legal process unfolds.
This case further underscores the critical need for community awareness and safety measures, particularly concerning the protection of children from potential threats. The community's response to these incidents will play an essential role in creating a safer environment for its residents.
