He stated, “We’ve seen that far too often, not just in this situation, but anytime there’s a vulnerable road user— a motorcyclist, a pedestrian, a bicyclist — involved in a collision with any type of vehicle. The potential for injuries are significant. No matter who’s right or wrong, the vulnerable road user is the one who is going to pay the price in terms of the injuries.”
The Toronto police confirmed that the officer was involved in a motorcade training exercise at the time of the crash. In response to the incident, their official statement expressed concern for the officer's well-being, stating, “We’re thinking of our officer and wishing him a full and speedy recovery.”
