On Monday night, the Toronto Blue Jays continued their impressive form by defeating the New York Yankees 4-1, thanks in part to Bo Bichette's pivotal two-run double during a four-run fifth inning. Kevin Gausman provided a strong performance on the mound, throwing seven innings of effective baseball, which helped extend the Blue Jays' home winning streak to a franchise-record 11 games.

This remarkable streak marks the longest home winning run for the Blue Jays since they won ten straight games at their former venue, Exhibition Stadium, from July 21 to August 3 in 1985. Currently leading the American League East, the Blue Jays have a record of 17 wins in their last 21 games.

In addition to Bichette's crucial hit, Alejandro Kirk contributed significantly with two hits, showcasing the team's robust offensive lineup. Since a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres in late May, the Blue Jays have excelled at home, winning 23 out of their last 27 games played at the Rogers Centre.

The game also highlighted some defensive miscues from the Yankees, specifically from third baseman Oswald Peraza and shortstop Anthony Volpe. Both players committed throwing errors during the fifth inning that allowed runs to score for Toronto. Volpe's performance has raised concerns, as he accumulated 12 errors this season, placing him among the leaders in the league; San Francisco's shortstop Willy Adames holds the top position with 13 errors.

Despite Giancarlo Stanton's solo home run, which marked his fifth of the season, it proved to be the Yankees' only offensive highlight against Gausman. The right-hander managed to limit the Yankees to just four hits, striking out eight batters while walking two. This victory marked Gausman’s first win since June 26 against the Cleveland Guardians.

Toronto also saw Brendon Little come in during the eighth inning, but he managed only to record a single out before leaving the game with two Yankees on base. Yariel Rodríguez then stepped in and skillfully retired Stanton along with Jasson Dominguez to escape the jam without further damage.

In the ninth inning, Jeff Hoffman took the mound and struck out the side, successfully securing his 24th save of the season from 28 opportunities. The Yankees' starter, Carlos Rodon, had a challenging outing, allowing four runs—two of which were earned—with six hits in five innings of work.

In a strategic maneuver, the Blue Jays opted to intentionally walk Aaron Judge after Trent Grisham's two-out double in the third inning. Gausman capitalized on this decision by striking out Jazz Chisholm Jr., further establishing his dominance on the mound during the game.
