Two Teens Arrested in Scarborough Bus Shooting

Two teenage boys have been arrested following a shooting incident that occurred on a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus in Scarborough earlier this month. The shooting took place on August 6, just before 4 p.m., in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Warden Avenue.

According to Supt. Paul McIntyre, the sequence of events began when a 14-year-old boy boarded a TTC bus and subsequently got into an altercation with two other male suspects. After the confrontation, it is reported that the boy exited the bus and was followed by the suspects.

During the pursuit, one of the suspects allegedly brandished a firearm and discharged it multiple times. Following the gunfire, the suspects are said to have physically assaulted the victim as he attempted to escape the situation.

The 14-year-old victim was located at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Emergency paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The last known direction of the suspects was fleeing northbound on Warden Avenue, prompting a subsequent police investigation. As part of this investigation, law enforcement officials executed search warrants on August 26 at residences located in the neighborhoods of Victoria Park and Finch avenues, leading to the arrests of two males.

A 15-year-old boy from Toronto has been charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault, assault, discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, and possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old was charged with assault and failure to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.

Both suspects are scheduled to make court appearances on Tuesday, as legal proceedings continue in connection with this serious incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are emphasizing the importance of community support in bringing any additional evidence or witnesses forward to assist with the case.
