A recent traffic stop in Mississauga led to the arrest of three individuals facing over 20 criminal charges, following the discovery of two illegal firearms and a quantity of drugs. This operation was conducted by Peel Regional Police (PRP) on Saturday, with officers patrolling the vicinity of Matheson Boulevard and Sismet Road when they initiated a stop on a suspect vehicle.
During the traffic stop, police discovered a loaded Glock 17 equipped with an extended magazine and multiple drugs within the vehicle. The driver, identified as 22-year-old Luqman Khandid from Mississauga, was found to be unlawfully possessing the firearm and was prohibited from driving. Khandid was subsequently arrested and charged with a total of eight offenses, which include significant violations such as:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Operation While Prohibited
- Two counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
A short time after the initial stop, police proceeded with another traffic stop on Matheson Boulevard East, close to Satellite Drive. During this second stop, officers located a loaded compact Glock 27 firearm on one of the passengers. Both occupants were arrested on the spot.
One of those arrested, 20-year-old Liban Abdillahi from Toronto, faces seven charges that include:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
The third individual, Abdullahi Ali, also aged 20 and hailing from Toronto, was charged with similar offenses, including:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Have Care and Control of Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available.
All three suspects are being held pending a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. Authorities have yet to release further details regarding the case or any ongoing investigations.
