Five individuals from Quebec are facing over 100 charges after Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) launched an investigation into a suspected organized auto theft ring. The investigation, dubbed "Project Egypt," was initiated in June 2025 by the DRPS Auto Theft Unit. Detectives allege that these suspects traveled from Quebec to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) with the intent to steal vehicles.

The investigation led to the identification of a group of suspects believed to be involved in the trafficking of vehicles that were stolen in the GTA. On September 17, 2025, DRPS executed a search warrant at a residence in Mississauga, where the five suspects were apprehended. During the search, investigators claim to have discovered “offence related property” at the location.

Throughout the course of the investigation, law enforcement successfully recovered eight stolen vehicles. In a previous search conducted in Quebec, authorities identified approximately 25 vehicles that had been re-vinned, indicating a sophisticated operation aimed at concealing the stolen vehicles' true identities.

The five accused individuals are identified as Shainna Faustin, 32, Jean-Junior Goureille, 24, Kyle Cain, 22, Dylan Chimusoro, 19, and Joshua Jean-Louis, 24. Each of these suspects faces a combined total of more than 100 charges related to their alleged involvement in the auto theft ring. Following their arrests, all five individuals were held for subsequent bail hearings.

It is important to note that the allegations against these suspects have not yet been tested in court, and as such, they are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges they face will be addressed in future legal proceedings, as law enforcement continues to investigate the extent of the auto theft operation and its implications.
