During the police operation, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle. However, the truck failed to comply and instead struck a fully marked police cruiser, resulting in extensive damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Peel Regional Police released a statement detailing the incident, including an 8-second video that captured the moment of impact.

After the crash, the stolen truck continued to move until it became inoperable. At that point, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Nirmal Singh, fled the scene on foot. Law enforcement initiated a foot pursuit and successfully apprehended him shortly thereafter. The swift action of the police resulted in the arrest of the suspect with minimal risk to public safety.

Nirmal Singh has been charged with a total of six offenses, which include five counts of possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, possession of break-in tools, and possession of an automobile master key. Additionally, it was revealed that Singh was already a Canada-wide suspended driver, which has led to further charges against him, amounting to eight counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited. Following the arrest, Singh was held for a bail hearing as the case progresses through the judicial system.
