A serious collision occurred in Beaverton early Thursday morning, resulting in life-altering injuries for a 47-year-old woman. The incident took place around 3 a.m. on Regional Road 23, specifically north of Thorah Concession Road 2, according to local police reports.
According to investigators, the woman had stopped her pick-up truck to assist a Dodge minivan that had veered off the roadway. While she was offering help, tragedy struck when another vehicle, a Mazda, was traveling northbound on Regional Road 23. The Mazda struck the woman, pinning her against her own pick-up truck.
Following the collision with the woman and her vehicle, the Mazda then crashed into the previously abandoned Dodge minivan before eventually descending into a ditch. The force of these collisions resulted in significant injuries to the woman, who was swiftly transported to a trauma center in the Toronto area. Thankfully, she is reported to be in stable condition after undergoing medical evaluation and treatment.
Authorities have stated that the driver of the Mazda, which was responsible for striking the woman, stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation. No additional information about the identities of those involved or potential charges has been disclosed.
This incident raises important concerns about roadside safety and the risks associated with stopping to assist vehicles in distress. Such situations can put good Samaritans in harm's way, as illustrated by this unfortunate event.
