TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — The investigation surrounding the apparent kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is ongoing as officials seek answers following her disappearance reported a week ago. Nancy is the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, and her case has garnered significant public attention.

In a heartfelt social media video posted on Saturday, Savannah Guthrie, alongside her siblings, addressed the potential kidnappers directly, expressing the family's willingness to pay for Nancy's safe return. "We received your message. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay," Savannah stated in the video, reflecting the family's distress and urgency in the situation.

According to an FBI spokesperson, the message referenced by Savannah was sent to KOLD, a Tucson-based television station, on Friday. The station has not disclosed the contents of the communication as the FBI continues its investigation. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department indicated that detectives and agents were actively pursuing leads at various locations but have yet to provide specific details regarding their efforts.

The email communication from the Sheriff’s Department noted that "Investigators have not identified any suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles connected to this case." This reveals the challenges law enforcement faces as they seek to gather evidence related to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance.

On Sunday, several marked sheriff's vehicles were observed at Nancy's home, with deputies reportedly examining the back of the property for over 20 minutes before departing without comments. This activity has raised questions about any potentially new developments in the investigation.

Authorities suspect that Nancy Guthrie might have been “taken against her will” from her residence outside of Tucson last weekend. Additionally, DNA tests have confirmed that blood found on her front porch matched Nancy’s, heightening concerns among investigators regarding her well-being. The situation has drawn widespread media attention, with multiple reports citing alleged ransom letters received during the week. At least one of these letters made financial demands and established strict deadlines, which have not been confirmed as credible by law enforcement.

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has captivated the public, with candles lit outside her home as a form of community support for the family. Emotional messages and signs conveying hopes for Nancy's safe return have become a poignant symbol of the community's concern.

In a notable interaction, President Donald Trump reached out to Savannah Guthrie last week, expressing his support and mentioning that there are "clues in the case that I think are very strong." This statement adds a notable element to the search, emphasizing the ongoing investigation's importance at a national level.

Authorities have also voiced increasing concerns regarding Nancy's health as she requires daily medications, including maintaining a pacemaker and managing high blood pressure and heart issues. Following the urgency of the situation, Savannah has released a video pleading for help as part of her family's ongoing efforts to engage with the public and potential kidnappers for her mother's safe return.

The third video plea released by Savannah this week underscores the complication and emotional toll the case has imposed on the family, illustrating their desperate need for assistance as investigations continue. The search for Nancy Guthrie remains active, with law enforcement committed to exploring all available leads.
