A Mississauga businessman named Harjeet Singh Dhadda, 51, was tragically shot to death after refusing to pay an extortion demand of $500,000. This chilling incident occurred just after noon on a Wednesday at a parking lot near Tranmere Drive and Telford Way, close to G&G Trucking Solutions — the transportation safety and insurance company he had managed with his family for nearly 15 years. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Dhadda succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
In an interview with OMNI News, Dhadda’s daughter, Gurleen Dhadda, spoke about the threats her father received from extortionists in India. She revealed that her father was adamant about not paying the sum they demanded, stating, “He’s not going to pay a single penny because he works for it.” This inflexible stance allegedly led to the tragic outcome. Although the Peel Regional Police homicide unit did not confirm the family's allegations of extortion, they are investigating every possible avenue related to the case.
Gurleen expressed her devastation over the loss of her father, calling attention to the lack of protection her family received from law enforcement. She lamented, “No one can bring my dad back anymore. He was brutally shot and killed in broad daylight just because our government and police officers were not able to provide the security that my dad deserved.” Her sentiment reflects a profound sense of grief and anger over the situation.
Tanveer Singh Dhadda, Harjeet's son, also shared his heartbreak on social media. He described his father as a devoted family man and law-abiding citizen whose life was unjustly cut short. “My father did not deserve this,” he wrote, highlighting the inconsistency in a life led honestly compared to the armed individuals who came to do him harm, seemingly without fear of consequences.

The shooting itself was confirmed by witnesses, who claimed that a black Dodge Challenger entered the parking lot and fired at least 15 shots at close range, targeting Harjeet who was shot multiple times in the back. The police have not yet released any information regarding suspects involved in the shooting, as the investigation continues.
Describing her father, Gurleen added, “He was not just my father, he was everyone’s pillar. He was a pillar for the whole community and any problem a person had, he was always there to help them.” This statement underscores the impact that Harjeet Dhadda had on those around him, illustrating his reputation as a supportive and caring community member.
As the family processes their grief, they continue to seek justice for Harjeet’s violent and untimely death. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers present in society and the potential consequences of criminal activities such as extortion. Meanwhile, Peel police officers have assured the public that they are actively investigating the threats made against Dhadda.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains in shock, grappling with the loss of a man who was not only a successful businessman but also a beloved figure within their local area.
