The weekend that began with joy quickly turned into tragedy for Jenelle Galve and her family. On Saturday, May 17, 2025, Jenelle was celebrating the Victoria Day long weekend in Milton, Ontario, with her sister Jade and their children. However, the celebration took a dark turn when Jenelle received a shocking phone call from the police the following morning.

Authorities informed her that an accident had occurred, resulting in the deaths of three of Jade’s four children in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver. The incident took place around midnight on Sunday, May 18, when Jade and her children were in a minivan driven by her boyfriend. They had stopped at a red light on the exit ramp of Highway 401 eastbound at Renforth Drive in Etobicoke when they were allegedly struck by the speeding vehicle of 19-year-old Ethan Lehouillier from Georgetown, Ontario.

In the tragic collision, 15-year-old Ramone and 13-year-old Jace were pronounced dead at the scene, while 6-year-old Maya succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at a local hospital. Jade, alongside her 10-year-old son Avery, survived the crash, as did her boyfriend. Jade is currently hospitalized with a concussion and broken ribs, while Avery is recovering from minor injuries.

Jenelle Galve expressed her sorrow, describing her niece and nephews as beautiful children full of life and happiness. She stated, “They love basketball. Maya loved to color. She’s very girly. She loves to dance on TikTok with my kids.” The pain of losing these innocent lives due to one person's mistake is unbearable for the grieving family.

Ethan Lehouillier was arrested at the scene of the crash and is facing 12 charges, which include three counts of impaired driving causing death and three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm. This tragic incident highlights the serious implications of drinking and driving, as Jenelle emphasized the urgent need for greater awareness regarding the dangers of impaired driving.

This tragic incident goes echoingly close to a similar event that occurred in Vaughan nearly a decade ago when an impaired driver took the lives of three children and their grandfather. Marco Muzzo, the driver responsible for that incident, received a sentence of 10 years in prison in 2016 but was granted full parole in 2021. In solidarity, the family from that tragedy reached out to the Laviña family on social media, expressing their heartbreak and support.

As a response to the tragic loss, an online fundraiser has been initiated for the Laviña family, raising over $100,000 by Monday evening, showcasing the community’s support for those devastated by this heart-wrenching incident.
