York Regional Police officers reported that two men were killed following a shooting outside a residence in Vaughan on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred on Kaiser Drive, near the intersections of Martin Grove and Langstaff roads, at approximately 5:30 p.m. multiple witnesses called in reports of gunfire in the area.

Constable Kevin Nebrija, speaking during a press update later that day, expressed the shock felt by the local community. He noted, "It’s absolutely shocking to the community here and to anyone who may have heard or seen anything. It’s not often that double homicides occur, especially in broad daylight." Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered the two victims outside the home, both with multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

Nebrija categorized the shootings as a "targeted incident," though he refrained from providing specific details regarding the circumstances leading to the victims' deaths. One of the deceased was identified as a resident of the home where the shooting took place, while the other man was known to live in the surrounding area.

Amid concerns regarding public safety, Nebrija stated that homicide investigators were actively working to determine the identities of those responsible for the tragedy and the motive behind it. The officer further revealed that there were individuals present inside the residence when the shots were fired, but there were no prior indications that the home was a target.

Witness reports indicated that three men were seen fleeing the scene in a blue SUV. Later on Wednesday evening, emergency services were alerted to a vehicle found ablaze approximately 11 kilometers away from the shooting site, near the intersection of Huntington and Kirby roads, adjacent to the Nashville Conservation Reserve. Nebrija indicated that the vehicle's description seemed to correspond with the getaway vehicle described by witnesses, yet investigators had not officially linked the two events at the time of the briefing. He confirmed that the vehicle is under examination by law enforcement.

As part of their ongoing investigation, Nebrija mentioned that authorities are seeking dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity to further their inquiry into the shooting incident.
