The Toronto Raptors 905 are set to host their annual open tryout, providing an opportunity for aspiring basketball players to showcase their skills and potentially earn an invitation to the team's training camp. This year, the tryout is scheduled for September 12, taking place at the OVO Athletic Centre in Toronto.
Participants must meet the eligibility standards outlined by the NBA to be able to compete in the tryout. The event will consist of two sessions, during which players will engage in team drills, individual skills exercises, and scrimmages. Throughout the day, coaches and staff from the Raptors 905 will evaluate each participant's performance.
To register for the tryout, interested players must complete their registration online. Additionally, they are required to fill out an NBA G League Medical Consent and Authorization form, alongside a release and eligibility form. Given the limited availability, with only 60 spots open for each session, the team advises early registration to secure a place.
There is a participation fee of $275 plus tax for those who wish to try out. This fee covers the costs associated with the event and ensures that the tryouts are conducted at a professional level.
The Raptors 905 serve as the NBA G League affiliate for the Toronto Raptors, continuing to develop talent that could potentially make its way to the NBA. The upcoming season for the Raptors 905 is set to commence in early November, with a complete game schedule expected to be announced in the upcoming weeks. Last season, the team finished fourth in the Eastern Conference but was unable to progress beyond the playoff rounds.
