Two suspects are currently wanted for arson related to a fire set at the Branthaven Home development in Burlington, Ontario. This incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, marks a troubling repeat offense, as the same development faced arson threats last year.

Halton police reported that they received a call around 2 a.m. regarding suspicious activity at the construction site located on Turnberry Road near Appleby Line. Upon arrival, authorities discovered that the suspects had allegedly doused several townhouse units, which had recently been completed and were slated for closing, with gasoline.

In a particularly alarming act, the two suspects also targeted an occupied unit adjacent to the newly built structures. After saturating the area with gasoline, they ignited it, setting the flames ablaze before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the residents of the occupied unit were able to escape unscathed, and no injuries have been reported as a result of this dangerous incident.

The firefighting efforts of Burlington Fire were effective, allowing them to quickly contain the flames and prevent further damage to the development and surrounding areas. The site itself is in its final phases of construction and consists of a mix of both occupied and unoccupied homes.

Descriptions of the suspects have been released by police, indicating that they are male and were dressed entirely in black, complete with face coverings and hoods to conceal their identities. This makes it difficult for authorities to identify and apprehend them, increasing community concern for safety.

This recent arson incident has raised eyebrows, particularly since it mirrors a previous attack on the same units in October of 2024. However, police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected, leaving investigators and the community on alert for any further developments.

As the investigation continues, Halton police are urging anyone with information regarding the suspects or the incident to come forward. The urgency of the situation underscores the need for vigilance and community awareness in preventing future criminal activities that threaten both property and personal safety.
