Blue Jays Set Record Ratings in ALCS Game 7

The Toronto Blue Jays achieved a significant milestone on Monday night, not only in the realm of sports but also in broadcasting, as they set a record for the most-watched Jays game ever on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+. A statement from a Rogers spokesperson confirmed that an average of six million Canadians tuned in to watch the Jays secure their place in the World Series final against the Los Angeles Dodgers by eliminating the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

This latest viewership record surpassed the previous benchmark of 5.1 million viewers, which was set during Game 6 of the 2015 ALCS. The excitement peaked dramatically during the game, with an astonishing audience of 8.3 million watching at approximately 11 p.m. as Jeff Hoffman struck out Julio Rodriguez, marking the game's final out.

The Blue Jays’ successful postseason run drew significant attention even before the game commenced. An average of 1.9 million fans tuned in early to Sportsnet’s broadcast team on the Blue Jays Central pregame show, setting the stage for a historic night. Additionally, 2.8 million viewers remained glued to their screens during the postgame show, witnessing Vladimir Guerrero Jr. being crowned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the series while celebrating with champagne in the clubhouse.

Throughout the entire ALCS, the average viewership was 4.4 million, with an impressive total of 15.9 million Canadians tuning in at some point during the series. The MLB Postseason on Sportsnet, in general, has been a major success, averaging 1.4 million viewers and reaching a significant 17.4 million Canadians to date.

Looking ahead, Game 1 of the World Series is set to take place on Friday, October 24. Fans can catch the Blue Jays Central pregame coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet, further feeding the anticipation surrounding the team's journey in the championship series.
