NEW YORK (AP) – Sean “Diddy” Combs has been moved to a prison facility in New Jersey to serve the remainder of his four-year sentence on prostitution-related charges. As of Friday, Combs is incarcerated at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute, which is situated about 34 miles (55 kilometers) east of Philadelphia, located within the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst joint military base.

The exact timing of Combs' transfer from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he had been held since his September arrest, remains unclear. His legal team did not provide immediate comments regarding the transfer.

In a recent motion, Combs' lawyers had requested that a judge “strongly recommend” his transfer to the low-security federal prison, emphasizing the importance of his participation in the facility's drug treatment program. Attorney Teny Geragos argued that the opportunity at FCI Fort Dix would allow Combs to address his drug abuse issues effectively while also enhancing family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.

Combs has served approximately 14 months of his 50-month prison sentence. He is scheduled for release on May 8, 2028, although he may obtain time reductions by engaging in substance abuse treatment and other rehabilitation programs available at the prison.

Earlier this week, Combs' lawyers petitioned a federal appeals court to expedite its review of the legality of his conviction and sentence. Combs, aged 55, is eager for the court to address his appeal swiftly, as a successful challenge could potentially lead to a reduction in his prison term.

Notably, former President Donald Trump has indicated that Combs has also sought a pardon from him, although Trump did not disclose whether he would consider granting such a request.

The founder of Bad Boy Records was convicted in July for orchestrating drug-fueled sexual encounters involving his girlfriends and male sex workers over several years. While he was acquitted of more serious charges such as sex trafficking and racketeering, the convictions he did receive resulted in significant prison time.

In a pre-sentencing letter to the judge, Combs expressed that he has undergone a “spiritual reset” during his time in jail, committing himself to remain drug-free, non-violent, and peaceful going forward.
