"Today" show host Savannah Guthrie has announced that her family is offering a $1 million reward for information that could lead to the recovery of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from her home in Arizona for over three weeks. The announcement comes as the family continues to search for hope amid their fears regarding Nancy's wellbeing.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Savannah expressed her desire for a miracle, indicating that the family hopes for Nancy's safe return but is also coming to terms with the possibility that she may no longer be alive. "She may already be gone," Savannah wrote, adding that her mother might be "dancing in heaven" with the Lord she loves.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home just outside Tucson, Arizona, on January 31, and was reported missing the following day. Authorities suspect she may have been kidnapped. The FBI has released surveillance videos showing a masked man lingering outside Nancy's front door on the night she disappeared, leading to considerable concern and investigation into her case.
Initial investigations revealed drops of blood on Nancy's front porch, heightening concerns about her health, particularly because she requires essential daily medication. Savannah stated that her family needs to know what happened to her mother, pleading, "Someone out there knows something that can bring her home." The case has drawn extensive resources, with several hundred personnel involved in the investigation and more than 20,000 tips received by the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
Recently released porch camera footage, which features a man clad in a backpack and gloves, provided investigators with a crucial lead in the case but has also spurred intense speculation. Moreover, the sheriff's office has acknowledged discrepancies in the masked person's clothing seen in various surveillance images, specifically regarding the presence or absence of a backpack. "There is no date or time stamp associated with these images," the department clarified, indicating that any assumptions regarding the timing of the images are speculative.
Sheriff Chris Nanos has assured the public that members of Nancy Guthrie's family, including her siblings and spouses, are not considered suspects in her disappearance. In an effort to expand the reach of their campaign for Nancy, Savannah Guthrie has also committed to donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. "We are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours," she stated, emphasizing the importance of support for others affected by similar circumstances.
