This suspension is categorized as an Administrative Deferral of Removals, a measure taken for countries considered unsafe due to various factors such as environmental disasters or ongoing conflicts.
The agency clarified that this deferment does not extend to individuals deemed inadmissible based on factors such as criminal activity, violations of international or human rights, organized crime, or security concerns. This ensures that while removals are paused for certain populations, those who pose risks to Canadian society may still be subject to removal proceedings.
The geopolitical landscape in the Middle East has significantly deteriorated recently, following military actions involving the United States and Israel against Iran. Additionally, the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed militia, has intensified, particularly around the southern suburbs of Beirut.
