PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) – A magnitude 5.9 earthquake hit parts of Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan on Saturday, causing widespread panic among residents who rushed out of their homes. Authorities have reported no immediate information regarding damage or casualties stemming from the seismic event.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, as confirmed by the Pakistan Meteorological Department. Tremors from the quake were felt in several major areas, including Islamabad, the eastern province of Punjab, and the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which shares a border with Afghanistan.
