On Friday night, Jalen Brunson delivered an impressive performance with 29 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns contributed a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, leading the New York Knicks to a decisive 112-95 victory over the Toronto Raptors. This win not only extended the Knicks' dominance over the Raptors, marking their 13th consecutive win in head-to-head matchups, but also clinched the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference for New York.

The Raptors entered Madison Square Garden with the pressing need to win either this game or their upcoming regular-season finale against the Brooklyn Nets to secure their first playoff berth in four years, hoping to avoid the play-in tournament. However, the Knicks thwarted those plans with a strong showing, improving their record to 53-28. Toronto, on the other hand, fell to 45-36 and currently stands sixth in the Eastern Conference after their two-game winning streak came to an abrupt end.

Brunson showcased remarkable shooting efficiency, hitting 12 of his 18 attempts from the field, while Towns was equally effective with a shooting performance of 8 for 12. The victory also marked the Knicks' fifth consecutive win, solidifying their momentum as the playoffs approach. Unfortunately for New York, forward OG Anunoby suffered a left ankle injury midway through the second quarter and did not return to the game, adding to the team’s growing list of injury concerns.

For the Raptors, Brandon Ingram led his team with 16 points, supported by Ja0Kobe Walter and Scottie Barnes, who each contributed 15 points. Toronto has struggled against New York this season, failing to secure a win in all five encounters, including once during the NBA Cup tournament, leaving the Raptors searching for answers as they aim to reverse their fortunes in the postseason.

The game began with the Knicks quickly establishing a 14-3 lead, taking command in front of a home crowd. By the end of the first quarter, New York held a slim 22-21 advantage. The Knicks then ramped up their offensive performance, outscoring the Raptors 29-15 in the second quarter, which allowed them to comfortably head into halftime with a 51-36 lead.

Despite falling behind, the Raptors showed signs of life in the third quarter as they managed to cut the deficit to 66-57 with a dunk from Ingram. However, Brunson responded decisively by igniting a 9-0 run for the Knicks, including a pivotal 9-foot fadeaway jumper followed by a 3-pointer, extending New York's lead to 75-57. The Knicks showcased their dominance in the paint, outscoring Toronto 58-48.

Looking ahead, the Raptors will host the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday to conclude their regular season. The outcome of this game will be crucial for Toronto as they seek to solidify their playoff position and avoid the play-in tournament.
