In a shocking incident in Toronto, a violent home invasion occurred early Thursday morning, targeting the family of David Morton, a 75-year-old CEO of the MAC Group. Morton, alongside his two adult daughters, aged 26 and 28, was shot and assaulted with a hammer during the invasion, which took place in the affluent Bridle Path neighborhood.
David Morton is currently hospitalized, as are his daughters. Their mother, Doriana Zohil-Morton, was also injured during the attack but did not sustain gunshot wounds and has since been released from the hospital following treatment.
In a heartfelt statement issued on behalf of the family, David Morton expressed the trauma they experienced. He stated, “What should have been the safety and security of our own home became a terrifying and life-threatening experience.” He elaborated on the horrors of the attack, noting that all four family members were injured and required urgent medical assistance. Morton emphasized the distress of undergoing such violence in what should be a sanctuary—their home. He asserted, “No family should ever have to experience this,” highlighting the need for people to feel safe in their own residences.
The Toronto Police Chief, Myron Demkiw, responded to the incident by vowing that police would be “relentless” in their pursuit of the three male suspects involved in the crime. The invasion took place at approximately 3:40 a.m., when the armed trio broke into the home through the rear. Upon confronting the family on the second floor, the suspects demanded valuables, leading to a violent altercation that resulted in gunfire.
Following the attack, the suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored SUV. The police have provided descriptions of the suspects: all three are believed to be around 20 years old, with thin builds, and were dressed in dark clothing and face masks at the time of the incident.

The impact on our communities is also very real. I want Torontonians to know that we are relentless in identifying and pursuing those responsible. Some of our most experienced investigators and specialized teams are following every lead to bring those involved to justice and prevent further harm. Residents can expect an increased police presence in the area in the coming days. We also continue to make strategic decisions and dedicate additional resources to address this concerning trend of home invasions and to keep our communities safe.
