Rideshare Driver Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault

A rideshare driver in Toronto has been arrested and charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a passenger. The incident reportedly took place on February 24, when a 21-year-old man ordered a rideshare vehicle. Upon picking up the passenger, the driver allegedly made an inappropriate sexual comment during the trip.

According to investigators, the situation escalated when the driver stopped the car and moved to the back seat, where he is accused of sexually assaulting the victim. After the assault, the driver reportedly left the area, leaving the victim on the sidewalk, which prompted the victim to call for help.

Toronto police responded to the scene in the vicinity of Bloor Street West and Queens Park following reports of the sexual assault. The investigation led to the identification of the suspect, and on March 18, 2023, Harsimranjot Dhillon, a 33-year-old resident of Caledon, was arrested. He faces charges of sexual assault and is expected to appear in court on May 5, 2023.
