On Wednesday afternoon, a man was discovered dead inside a home in Aurora, prompting a significant response from authorities. According to York Regional Police, officers were dispatched to the residence located near Wellington Street East and Walton Drive, which is situated east of Yonge Street, at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from "significant trauma". He was pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a homicide investigation. Following the grim discovery, six individuals were taken into custody; however, no charges have been filed against them as of yet. Notably, five of these individuals were reportedly found in close proximity to the house where the incident occurred.
The investigation is still in its early stages, and homicide investigators have emphasized the limited information that can be shared at this time. "This is a very dynamic scene. We’re going to follow evidence where it goes, and we’re going to be looking into every avenue with it," stated Constable James Dickson.
The police have indicated that they will be maintaining a presence at the scene for an extended duration, with forensics teams assigned to meticulously examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officers will also be going door-to-door in the neighborhood to gather any video footage or eyewitness accounts that may assist in the investigation.
Authorities report that this incident appears to be isolated and that they are not actively searching for any additional suspects outside of those already in custody. However, they have not released further details regarding the identities of the suspects or any potential motives behind the homicide.
