Peel Regional Police (PRP) have announced the arrest of a second man in connection with the killing of Gurvinder Nath, a 24-year-old food delivery driver from Brampton. Nath was fatally attacked during a violent carjacking in Mississauga on July 9, 2023, while he was working near the intersection of Britannia Road and Creditview Road.

According to the police, Gurvinder Nath was assaulted and robbed of his vehicle at approximately 2:10 a.m. after which the suspects fled the scene in his car. Although he was rushed to a trauma center following the incident, he succumbed to his injuries later that day. Following his tragic death, Nath was honored by family, friends, and community members at a vigil, where attendees remembered him as a hard-working and kind individual. His killing has sparked intensified discussions about the need for improved safety measures for gig-economy workers.

First Suspect Charged in 2024

In February 2024, investigations led to the arrest of Jazaine Kerr, a 23-year-old resident of Mississauga. Kerr was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a prohibited firearm. During this time, Peel Regional Police indicated that the investigation remained ongoing, with additional suspects still being sought.

Subsequently, detectives identified another suspect, Devaunte Thompson, a 26-year-old from Caledon, and issued a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest on charges of second-degree murder. On July 16, 2026, police confirmed that Thompson had been located and arrested in Toronto. He is currently held in custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
