Residents have expressed gratitude for the recognition, feeling it highlights the neighborhood's unique character. One Davenport resident remarked on the mixed-use environment, emphasizing, "I love how much there is to do." Another added, "There’s incredible parks. It’s an industrial street, so there’s always something new and interesting happening."
The neighborhood has become particularly appealing to food enthusiasts and nightlife seekers. A variety of workshop galleries, small-batch breweries, and distinctive restaurants contribute to its charm, creating an area rich in growth while retaining its original character.
Among Davenport's notable creative landmarks is All Ours Studios, which showcases the works of Black creatives. Owner Darren Leu reflects on the neighborhood's hidden gems and the significance of its newfound recognition by stating, "One of the great things about Geary is that we have so many hidden gems, but being celebrated with the people, the businesses is absolutely beautiful."
For those with a taste for culinary excellence, Famiglia Baldassarre stands out as a neighborhood staple, having established a reputation over the past eight years for its fresh, handmade pasta. The restaurant embodies Davenport’s unique blend of industriality and artistry. Leo Baldassarre, the owner, commented on the diverse elements of the area, saying, "There’s a lot of artist studios, mechanics, welders, restaurants and bars, cafes, a bit of everything. So that mix is unique rather than full commercial."
New establishments like General Public, which Time Out has recognized as one of Toronto’s best new restaurants, are also garnering attention. Owner Jen Agg explained the thought behind choosing Davenport for her restaurant, saying, "We’ve been paying attention to this neighborhood and watching all the amazing spots here do grassroots things."
