McGrattan has previously met Prevost, a 69-year-old Chicago-born missionary, on several occasions and describes him as a sensitive, humble individual who listens attentively. During a press conference at an Edmonton church, McGrattan stated, “I saw him as someone who would build consensus, someone who was able to see that the middle is where dialogue really is fruitful and takes place.”
