Toronto police are appealing to the public for assistance in locating a missing woman, expressing grave concerns for her safety given the extreme cold temperatures that are forecasted. The missing individual, Erzebet, aged 54, was last seen on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Bloor Street West and Keele Street.
Erzebet is described as approximately five feet one inch tall and weighing around 200 pounds. She has brown eyes and black curly hair that reaches shoulder length. At the time of her disappearance, she was reported to be wearing a black jacket and black boots.
According to Toronto police Inspector Scott Bradbury, authorities are urgently worried for her well-being due to the rapidly dropping temperatures in the city. "We want to make sure she is safe and is returned home," he stated on Thursday night. Meteorologists have indicated that Toronto is entering what is expected to be one of the coldest stretches of the season, with wind chills projected to drop into the -30s. These conditions can lead to frostbite on exposed skin in mere minutes.
In response to the situation, Bradbury informed the public that there will be an increased police presence in the Bloor and Keele area, as well as the involvement of volunteers who are assisting in the search operations. He has urged local residents to check their yards and sheds, as the missing woman may be trying to find shelter to keep warm.
Law enforcement officers are actively combing through the neighborhood and are going door-to-door in their effort to locate her. They are also seeking video footage from the area that could potentially offer clues regarding her whereabouts. "Right now our concern is the weather. With the temperature dropping, hypothermia can set in," added Bradbury, emphasizing the urgency of finding Erzebet.
As of now, police do not believe that her disappearance is suspicious. The authorities have extended their appeal to individuals using warming centers around the city to remain vigilant and keep an eye out for Erzebet. It has also been noted that she tends to frequent local coffee shops.
If anyone has seen Erzebet or has any information regarding her whereabouts, they are urged to call 911 immediately.
