Toronto police have made significant progress in an investigation into a violent assault that occurred earlier this month, resulting in hospital treatment for a male victim. Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the incident, but two additional suspects remain at large.
The alleged assault took place in the vicinity of St. Clair Avenue West and Dufferin Street on Monday, February 9, 2026, around 8:47 p.m. According to police reports, the victim had arranged to meet four individuals outside his building, but the encounter escalated into violence.
Investigators suggest that during the meet-up, all four suspects assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene. As a result of the attack, the victim sustained serious injuries, prompting immediate medical attention.
Following the incident, law enforcement officials acted quickly and arrested two of the alleged assailants the following day. The arrested individuals have been identified as Lino Pagano, a 63-year-old resident of Toronto, and Linda Elmaleh, a 57-year-old, also from Toronto. Both suspects are facing multiple charges, including assault, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault. Additionally, Elmaleh has been charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
As the investigation continues, Toronto police are actively seeking the identification and apprehension of the two remaining suspects involved in the assault. Descriptions of the outstanding suspects have been released to aid in their capture:
Suspect #1 is described as a male with a clean-shaven appearance and a medium build, estimated to be between 30 to 40 years old. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a dark jacket with a distinctive white stripe across the chest, gray pants, and black shoes featuring a white sole.

Suspect #2 is also male, with a medium build, aged between 50 to 60 years. He is noted for having blond hair and was seen wearing a blue medical mask, a black jacket, blue jeans, and brown boots.

As the investigation unfolds, police urge anyone with information regarding the outstanding suspects to come forward and assist in bringing justice to the victim of this brutal assault.
