Brandon Ingram's status for the upcoming Game 7 is uncertain, as the Toronto Raptors have listed him as questionable for the crucial match against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The announcement regarding Ingram's condition was made by the team on Saturday, just a day before the pivotal winner-take-all game.
Ingram's absence was felt during the Raptors' exhilarating Game 6 victory on Friday, where he was ruled out due to inflammation in his right heel. Following the game, he was seen wearing a walking boot, raising concerns about his availability for the series-deciding contest.
The star forward's injury flared up during the second quarter of Game 5, where he re-aggravated the issue. Although the Raptors provided him with a day of rest between Games 5 and 6, his condition did not improve, leading to his exclusion from the roster for the critical Game 6.
Throughout the series against the Cavaliers, Ingram has averaged 12 points per game. However, he showcased his scoring capability with a notable 23-point performance during the Raptors’ Game 4 victory. In contrast, his contributions in Game 5 were minimal, as he only tallied one point, one rebound, and two assists in 11 minutes on the court before his exit.
Ingram’s absence in Game 6 opened the door for 21-year-old Ja'Kobe Walter to step up significantly. Walter took full advantage of the increased playing time, scoring an impressive 24 points on a commendable 4-of-9 shooting from three-point range in 43 minutes of play. His stellar performance played a crucial role in helping the Raptors secure a 112-110 overtime win, which kept their hopes of advancing in the playoffs alive.
As the series shifts back to Cleveland for the decisive Game 7, the Raptors are hopeful that Ingram may be able to return. The high-stakes encounter is set to take place on Sunday, with coverage available on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+, starting at 7:30 p.m. ET (4:30 p.m. PT).
