Two individuals are facing legal repercussions following an assault incident at Woodbine Beach that occurred on Wednesday night, specifically at approximately 10:45 p.m. Toronto police received calls reporting a stabbing in the area, prompting them to dispatch investigators to the scene.
According to the police investigation, the altercation began when 20-year-old Shahabuddin Kabiry from Guelph, along with a 17-year-old male youth, confronted a victim, leading to a verbal argument. The situation escalated quickly, resulting in a physical assault where the victim was reportedly attacked with an edged weapon and a BB gun. Authorities have stated that the victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Following the assault, both suspects fled the scene. However, law enforcement was able to apprehend Kabiry on Friday, two days after the incident. He was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon and assault. The swift action by the police ensured that Kabiry was taken into custody shortly after the events unfolded.
The 17-year-old male youth, on the other hand, was located a day later, on Saturday. He faces five charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon, as per the police statement. Due to legal restrictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the youth cannot be disclosed to the public.
This incident has raised concerns in the community regarding public safety and the handling of such violent acts. Investigators are thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding the altercation in an effort to understand the motivations behind the confrontation and to ensure that all legal actions are appropriately addressed.
In summary, the assault at Woodbine Beach has led to significant legal consequences for both Shahabuddin Kabiry and the unnamed youth, highlighting ongoing issues related to crime and youth violence in urban areas.
