On Saturday, she stated, “I’m not going anywhere,” dispelling rumors that circulated on Friday about her potential withdrawal with just over two weeks remaining before election day.

The speculation regarding Nunziata’s exit from the race was reported by CityNews, creating a wave of uncertainty in the lead-up to the October 2026 election. However, following these reports, Nunziata issued a robust statement asserting her intentions to remain a candidate, categorically rejecting any claims that suggested otherwise. Nunziata has been a stalwart member of the city council, representing York South-Weston since 1997 and serving as the speaker in the chamber since 2010.
