The search for two suspects in connection with a robbery involving a firearm is currently underway in the Queen Street West neighborhood. The incident occurred on the morning of October 10, 2023, when police received reports of a robbery in the vicinity of Queen Street West and Beverley Street at approximately 7:30 a.m.
According to investigators, the victim was approached by the two suspects while in a park. During the encounter, one suspect allegedly brandished a firearm while the second suspect was reportedly armed with a knife. They demanded the victim’s wallet, creating a threatening situation.
Law enforcement indicates that the suspects stole some cash and a backpack containing the victim's personal belongings. Following the robbery, the two suspects fled the scene by riding westbound on Grange Avenue using bicycles.
Police have managed to identify one of the suspects as 26-year-old Tarone Whalen. He is currently wanted for several charges, including possessing a firearm without a license, robbery with a firearm, uttering threats, three counts of possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. His identification marks him as a significant subject of interest in this robbery case.
The second suspect is still unidentified and is described as a male of black descent, standing five feet five inches tall, with a medium build and short black hair. At the time of the robbery, he was reportedly wearing a grey shirt and black pants. This description is crucial for the ongoing investigation as police aim to gather more information on his whereabouts.
