A child who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe, but the suspect remains at large. The suspect, 38-year-old Anthony Deschepper, has allegedly been connected to the fatal shooting of a woman in Brampton, Ontario.
The Amber Alert was issued just before 5 p.m. for a one-year-old girl who had gone missing in Brampton. Subsequent investigations revealed that the child has since been located and is believed to have been dropped off with family members, alleviating immediate concerns for her safety.
Anthony Deschepper is described as standing five feet nine inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds, and is clean-shaven with brown hair. During his last sighting, he was wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans, and he was carrying a black crossbody bag. Authorities have issued a warning that he is considered armed and dangerous.
Peel police confirmed that the abduction is related to a homicide that took place earlier on Tuesday in Brampton. A woman was shot and killed in a parking lot near the intersection of Airport Road and Queen Street East. This incident is being investigated as an intimate partner-related homicide.
Residents in Fort Erie were initially asked to shelter in place due to reports that the suspect may have been in the area near Prospect Point and Ridgeway Road. However, the shelter-in-place order was lifted after police indicated that Deschepper likely left the vicinity.
As authorities continue their search for Anthony Deschepper, residents are urged to exercise caution and report any sightings or information regarding his whereabouts. The police are treating this case with high priority, given the dangerous nature of the suspect and the serious circumstances surrounding the abduction and homicide.
This incident has raised concerns in the community about safety and the potential risks associated with intimate partner violence, highlighting the need for awareness and preventive measures. Policymakers and law enforcement officials are expected to continue addressing these urgent issues as the investigation unfolds.
