Police in Peel Region have arrested four teenagers in connection with a thwarted robbery attempt at the Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. The incident occurred last week, specifically on December 3, around 2:50 p.m. The suspects, reportedly armed with hammers, entered the mall wearing all-black clothing and with their faces covered.

According to investigators, mall security and a paid-duty police officer stationed at the site quickly spotted the suspects. They pursued the group, resulting in one suspect being apprehended on-site. Meanwhile, the other three suspects managed to escape in a stolen Honda CR-V.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and no property was stolen from the mall. Following the suspects' escape, officers in the vicinity identified the stolen vehicle, which had been taken from a residence in North York on December 2. To prevent a high-speed chase, police strategically blocked the vehicle from all sides.

The remaining suspects exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. However, law enforcement officers were able to track them down and place them under arrest shortly thereafter.

The group of suspects consists of teenagers aged between 14 and 17. Due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, their identities cannot be released to the public.

Further investigations revealed that this group may also be linked to another suspected robbery attempt that occurred earlier on the same day in York Region. At approximately 1:30 p.m., the suspects allegedly attempted to enter a jewelry store located in a Vaughan strip mall but were unable to gain entry and subsequently fled the scene.

As a result of their actions, the four teenagers are now facing a total of four charges. These charges include robbery, attempt to commit an indictable offense, possession of property obtained by crime, and two counts of wearing a disguise with the intent to commit a crime. They have been held in custody pending separate bail hearings.
