OTTAWA — The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has announced that its members will participate in a ratification vote concerning tentative agreements with Canada Post between April 20 and May 30. This decision comes after a lengthy negotiation process that lasted nearly two years and involved multiple instances of work stoppages, including picketing by union members.

These negotiations, which began in earnest as both parties struggled to come to a consensus on key issues, have revolved around critical topics such as wage increases and structural changes within the postal service. After arduous negotiations, agreements were finally reached in late December, prompting the union's recommendation for its approximately 55,000 members to vote in favor of the proposed terms.

According to Canada Post, the tentative agreements offer several significant enhancements for workers. These include higher wages, improved benefits, and the introduction of a new model for weekend parcel delivery, which aims to adjust to changing demands in the postal service sector.
