Provincial police are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic fatal crash that occurred near Brantford, Ontario, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and sending five others to the hospital. The incident took place on a Friday afternoon, shortly after 12:30 p.m., prompting emergency crews to respond to the scene located at Colborne Street East, near the intersections with McBay Road and Langford Church Road.
The collision involved three vehicles: a pickup truck, an SUV, and a minivan. According to details provided by Sgt. Ed Sanchuk in a video shared on social media, the minivan's occupants suffered dire consequences from the crash. Specifically, a 38-year-old driver and a 16-year-old passenger sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and were confirmed dead at the scene.
Authorities, including the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), indicated that the driver of the SUV, along with three additional occupants, as well as the driver of the pickup truck, were all transported to a hospital for medical care. Fortunately, their injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening.
In light of the seriousness of the situation, investigators are actively appealing for witnesses who may have seen the crash occur or who might possess dash cam footage from the vicinity at the time of the incident. This appeal aims to gather more information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
As a result of the collision, police have closed off Colborne Street East between McBay Road and Langford Church Road to facilitate their investigation and ensure the safety of all personnel involved.
