The first incident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Mount Knauss, where a group of four heli-skiers was caught in an avalanche. The Terrace RCMP responded to reports of the avalanche and quickly dispatched search crews to locate the affected individuals.

Upon reaching the scene, search teams confirmed that three of the heli-skiers had succumbed to their injuries. One remaining skier was airlifted with serious injuries to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
