Toronto police have initiated a search for a man linked to what they are characterizing as a “suspected hate-motivated assault.” This investigation stems from an incident that occurred on September 5, when an unidentified man confronted a victim at the intersection of Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue. The victim was draped in a Palestinian flag at the time of the encounter.

According to the police report, the suspect approached the victim without provocation and physically pushed them while making derogatory, anti-immigrant comments. This unwarranted aggression highlights concerns around rising hate crimes and intolerance in the community. Following the assault, the suspect fled the scene and was last seen heading southbound on Yonge Street.

Described as a man between the ages of 55 and 60, the suspect is approximately six feet tall with a heavy build. He is clean-shaven and was wearing distinctive clothing at the time of the incident. Authorities noted that he had on a grey Nike shirt emblazoned with “JUST DO IT,” paired with green shorts, a beige baseball hat, and grey running shoes.
