A 19-year-old man has been charged with making threats to carry out a shooting at a synagogue in Durham Region. The suspect, identified as Alexander Parfitt from Whitby, allegedly posted threatening messages on an online message board, prompting a response from law enforcement.

On Friday, Durham police were alerted by an external law enforcement agency regarding these serious threats. The investigation that followed enabled police to trace the user behind the messages, which were explicitly aimed at a synagogue, leading to heightened concern within the community.
