A man has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in relation to a threatening incident involving the former Prince Andrew. Reports indicate that he was approached by a masked individual while walking his dogs near his residence in eastern England.

According to the Norfolk Constabulary, the arrest occurred on Wednesday evening after a report was made about a man behaving in an intimidating manner close to the home of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The police stated that officers attended the scene and took the suspect into custody under public order offense and possession of an offensive weapon charges. However, police have not specified the exact type of offensive weapon involved in the incident, which typically includes knives, truncheons, and other items meant to cause harm.

The Daily Telegraph reported that a man wearing a ski mask aggressively approached the former royal, shouting abuse. This alarming episode took place near the Sandringham Estate, prompting Andrew and his protection officer to retreat to their car and speed away from the scene.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, who is the younger brother of King Charles III, relocated to the Sandringham Estate, situated approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of London, after being evicted from his longtime residence near Windsor Castle. This eviction came as a result of scandals associated with his friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.

Currently 66 years old, Andrew has found a new home at Marsh Farm on the Sandringham Estate after leaving Royal Lodge in the previous year. His reputation has taken a significant hit, leading to the royal family stripping him of his titles and public honors, as well as banishing him from public appearances due to controversies surrounding financial issues and relationships with disreputable individuals.

Among the allegations against him is that Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers, claimed she was coerced into sexual encounters with him when she was just 17 years old. Andrew denied these allegations but ultimately reached an undisclosed settlement in the civil case, acknowledging Giuffre's suffering as a victim of sex trafficking. Giuffre tragically died by suicide in April 2025, at the age of 41.

In February 2025, Andrew made headlines as the first senior British royal in nearly 400 years to be arrested, as he was detained for several hours by British police on suspicions of misconduct in public office, related to his connections with Epstein. This arrest marked a significant shift in the approach of British authorities, who traditionally sought to protect the royal family from public scandal.

Furthermore, police have previously stated that they are investigating allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor had supplied trade information to Epstein during 2010 when he served as the United Kingdom's special envoy for international trade. Correspondence between the two has been scrutinized, following the release of millions of pages of documents from the U.S. Justice Department's investigation into Epstein.
