The Peel Regional Police (PRP) have announced a Canada-wide warrant for a 21-year-old man from Mississauga, identified as Carlos Rodriguez-Rodriguez, in connection with a double shooting that occurred earlier this year. The incident took place on February 21 at approximately 9 p.m., near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East, within the parking lot of a bustling commercial plaza.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found two victims who had been shot. One of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was critically injured. The gravity of the situation necessitated a robust police response that night, prompting investigators to canvass the area for witnesses and review surveillance footage from various businesses located within the plaza.
After months of thorough investigation, law enforcement officials have managed to identify Rodriguez-Rodriguez as the primary suspect in this troubling case. He now faces several serious charges, which include attempted murder, aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon, and various firearm-related offenses. The police have made it clear that locating Rodriguez-Rodriguez is a priority, given the severe nature of the crimes he is accused of committing.
Rodriguez-Rodriguez is described by the police as a Latin American male, standing five feet eleven inches tall, with a slim build and weighing approximately 150 pounds. He has black hair, making him identifiable to the public. Authorities are emphasizing the need for community assistance, urging anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts or any additional details pertinent to the February shooting to come forward and contact the investigators immediately.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding gun violence in urban areas and the critical role of community involvement in helping law enforcement bring suspects to justice. The PRP's call for information underscores the necessity of public cooperation in addressing these pressing issues and ensuring community safety.
