The Toronto Police Service is actively searching for a suspect following an alleged assault on an individual who was waiting to board a streetcar. The incident occurred at the intersection of Broadview Avenue and Danforth Avenue just before 10:20 a.m. on Sunday.
According to a statement released by the police on Monday evening, the victim and the suspect were in line for the streetcar when the suspect reportedly picked up a brick and assaulted the victim. The police have not disclosed any information regarding the events that led up to the attack.
After the assault, both the victim and the suspect boarded the streetcar where they reportedly "exchanged words." Details about the interaction immediately following the boarding are unclear. However, it was mentioned that the victim later sought medical attention at a hospital and reported the incident to law enforcement. The nature and extent of the victim's injuries have not been made public.
In an effort to assist in the investigation, police have released two images captured from surveillance footage that show the suspect involved in the assault. Descriptions provided by investigators indicate that the suspect is approximately five-foot-nine in height and weighs between 165 to 175 pounds. He has brown facial hair and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt wrapped around his head, a black Under Armour t-shirt, black Adidas jogging pants with grey stripes, and white Nike Air Force 1 shoes.
