TORONTO — Lactalis Canada Inc., the parent company of Cracker Barrel, has announced its acquisition of Agropur Co-operative's fine cheese division along with its fine cheese import activities. This strategic move is aimed at enhancing Lactalis' portfolio of specialty and core cheese brands, which currently includes well-known names such as Galbani, Président, Cracker Barrel, Black Diamond, and P’tit Québec.

The acquisition will also include Agropur's two production facilities located in Oka and Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec. With this deal, Lactalis Canada will be adding approximately 400 employees to its workforce, thereby expanding its operational capabilities in Canada. This expansion aligns with Lactalis' strategy to bolster its presence in the competitive Canadian cheese market.

Emmanuel Besnier, the chairman of Lactalis Group, emphasized that this acquisition not only presents a significant opportunity for growth but also allows the company to build upon its flagship brands in Quebec.
