A 32-year-old man, identified as Abdul Ghafoori, has been charged with first-degree murder following the discovery of a woman's body in a downtown Toronto residence in late 2025. The victim, Himanshi Khurana, a 30-year-old woman, was reported missing to Toronto police on December 19, 2025.
The subsequent day, police investigations led to the grim finding of Khurana's body at a home situated near Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West. Upon investigation, her death was accurately ruled a homicide. As the situation unfolded, law enforcement issued a Canada-wide warrant for Ghafoori, highlighting that the suspect and the victim were known to each other, which further complicated the investigation.
In an update issued by the Toronto police homicide squad on a Saturday, authorities disclosed that they had worked collaboratively with both national and international policing partners to successfully facilitate Ghafoori's return to Canada. However, investigators did not disclose the location of the suspect prior to this extradition.
Ghafoori's anticipated court appearance in a Toronto bail court was also announced to occur on the same Saturday.
