A 52-year-old man, identified as Joao Cabral from Toronto, is currently facing multiple charges in connection with a serious hit-and-run incident that occurred on August 26 in the city's west end. The incident involved a 34-year-old woman who was crossing Lansdowne Avenue at Brandon Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound just after 8:30 p.m.

According to the Toronto police, the vehicle involved in the incident was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with the woman. Following the collision, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving the woman with serious injuries that necessitated immediate medical attention. She was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Following the hit-and-run, investigators launched an extensive search for both the vehicle and the driver. Within two days of the incident, police managed to locate the vehicle, which was identified as a five-door white hatchback. However, despite finding the car, the driver remained at large during this initial phase of the investigation.
