A 27-year-old man from Brampton, identified as Lovepreet Mann, is currently facing multiple charges stemming from a disturbing series of attempted carjackings and a stabbing that took place over the weekend of September 6, 2023. The Peel Region police reported that the incidents began shortly after 10 p.m., when Mann attempted to steal a vehicle while the owner was still inside.
According to investigators, during the carjacking attempt on Clockwork Drive and Creditview Road, Mann physically assaulted the vehicle's owner by stabbing him. The victim managed to survive the attack and was subsequently transported to a local trauma center where medical personnel treated him for non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the stabbing incident, Mann allegedly proceeded to a nearby residence where he forcefully kicked in the front door, demanding that the occupants surrender their car keys. However, the attempted robbery was unsuccessful, prompting him to flee the scene on foot. Once outside, he made further attempts to carjack two additional vehicles in the surrounding area, but those efforts also failed, with no physical injuries reported among those victims.
In the aftermath of these violent incidents, the Peel Regional Police launched an investigation that quickly led them to identify Mann as the prime suspect. On September 7, just one day after the series of attempts, authorities arrested him at a residence in Brampton.
Mann faces a total of six charges, which include three counts of robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats. His arrest represents a significant development in a case that has raised concerns about public safety, given the violent nature of the events.
