Toronto police reported that an 18-year-old male and three 16-year-old males face multiple firearms-related charges following an incident in the Finch Avenue West and Yorkgate Boulevard area, near the Jane and Finch intersection. The incident occurred early Monday morning as police patrolled the region.
According to law enforcement officials, the 18-year-old, identified as Kwabena Ameyaw, was operating a vehicle when officers stopped him for a violation of the Highway Traffic Act. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Ameyaw and the three youths were allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm along with tools commonly associated with break-ins.
As a consequence of the arrest, Kwabena Ameyaw, aged 18, was charged with several offenses. These include:
- Possessing a break-in instrument
- Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
- Possessing a firearm without a license
- Possessing a loaded regulated firearm
- Careless driving
- Driving a motor vehicle without a valid license
Furthermore, the three 16-year-old males from Toronto were also taken into custody. Each of them has been charged with similar offenses, which include:
- Possessing a break-in instrument
- Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm
- Possessing a firearm without a license
- Possessing a loaded regulated firearm
