The owner of a hair salon with over 20 years of operation in Toronto's Annex area has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation, according to Toronto police.

The accused, identified as Alexander Ghorbani, 63, operates ‘Alex Cuts’, located on Bloor Street West, near Dalton Road. Allegations surfaced that Ghorbani assaulted a male youth who came to the salon for a haircut in September 2023. The victim reportedly experienced a similar incident during another visit to the salon on July 3, 2025, where the accused allegedly assaulted him again.

Ghorbani was arrested on Thursday and faces two counts of sexual assault. Following his arrest, he was scheduled to appear in court on the following Friday.

In light of the allegations, police have released Ghorbani's photograph to the public, expressing concerns that there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. They urge anyone with relevant information to contact the authorities or Crime Stoppers to facilitate further investigation into the case.

The situation has raised significant concerns within the community, given the long-standing presence of Ghorbani's salon and the trust that many residents have placed in local businesses. Authorities hope that by spreading awareness, they might encourage potentially affected individuals to seek justice and support.

This case reflects broader issues of sexual misconduct, particularly within spaces that are meant to provide personal care and comfort. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement is keen to ensure that all victims feel safe and supported in reporting their experiences.
